币界网报道:Ledger will discontinue software support for its nine-year-old Nano S hardware wallet due to memory limitations preventing modern crypto app integration and security upgrades, CTO Charles Guillemet announced. The 320KB storage is nearly fully occupied by core apps like Bitcoin and Ethereum, leaving no space for newer features like multi-app runtimes, Uniswap swaps, or advanced security protocols. While basic functions remain operational, Ledger recommends upgrading to newer models like the Nano S Plus. The decision sparked mixed reactions, with critics accusing Ledger of planned obsolescence while industry experts like Aave's Marc Zeller noted hardware lifespans naturally require eventual phase-outs. Separately, Ledger introduced Recovery Key, a physical backup solution for wallet restoration.
