币界网报道：Metaplanet, a Japanese investment firm, has purchased an additional 1.234 Bitcoin (worth approximately $7.7 million), bringing its total holdings to 141.07 BTC (around $8.8 million). This acquisition follows the company's initial purchase of 117.7 BTC in June 2024, as part of its strategy to adopt Bitcoin as a reserve asset. With this latest move, Metaplanet now holds more Bitcoin than Tesla, which currently possesses 11,509 BTC. The company cited Japan's economic challenges, including high government debt and prolonged low interest rates, as key reasons for diversifying into Bitcoin. Metaplanet's shares surged over 10% following the announcement, continuing its upward trend since adopting the Bitcoin strategy. The firm plans to continue accumulating Bitcoin as a hedge against fiat currency risks.
