Martinis were awarded the prize for their "discoveries of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunneling and energy quantization in circuits." John Martinis led a Google team that announced quantum supremacy in 2019, developing the Sycamore quantum processor. It is worth noting that members of the Google DeepMind team already won the Nobel Prize in 2024. John Martinis is no longer with Google. The 2025 Nobel Prize award is 11 million Swedish kronor (SEK), the same as in 2024, equivalent to 8.34526 million RMB.
