Under the US-Japan trade agreement, the US will impose a 15% base tariff on nearly all Japanese imports, while also implementing separate industry-specific treatments for automobiles and auto parts, aerospace products, generic drugs, and natural resources that cannot be naturally obtained or produced in the United States. The Japanese government will accelerate the implementation of its "minimum access" program for rice, increasing US rice purchases by 75%, and purchase US agricultural products, including corn, soybeans, fertilizers, bioethanol (including bioethanol for sustainable aviation fuel), and other US products, totaling $8 billion annually. The Japanese government is also committed to allowing the sale of US-made and US-certified passenger cars in Japan without additional testing.
