最新报道:The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its decision on whether to approve an exchange-traded fund issued by Truth Social, the social media platform operated by Trump Media & Technology Group. According to a filing Monday, the SEC set October 8th as the next deadline for the Truth Social Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF. The delay is routine as the agency is weighing dozens of cryptocurrency ETF proposals. Two other extension applications for the CoinShares Litecoin ETF, the CoinShares XRP ETF, and the 21Shares Core XRP ETF were also filed Monday, pushing the deadline back to later in October. "The Commission believes that a longer period of time to act on the proposed rule change is appropriate to allow it sufficient time to consider the proposed rule change and the issues raised therein," the agency stated in the Truth Social ETF filing. Truth Social's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF, originally proposed in June, has so far received only one comment, urging the agency to reject it due to President Donald Trump's involvement in cryptocurrencies. Trump has made millions from his family's cryptocurrency ventures, including the World Liberty Financial DeFi and stablecoin project and the issuance of the TRUMP and MELANIA memecoins. "If the SEC votes to approve this issuance, it will sow doubt in the American people about the markets and could undermine confidence in them and in the agency itself," said Caroline Ciccone, president of Accountable.US, a nonprofit dedicated to holding government officials accountable. "The Commission will have to confront these questions: Did they approve this rule because it's good for the country? Or because it will benefit the president's business?" Truth Social, which is also vying for a Bitcoin ETF, has also seen a significant shift in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) stance on cryptocurrency ETFs over the past year, since Trump took office. In July, under new leadership, the agency voted to approve an order allowing authorized participants to conduct in-kind creation and redemption of cryptocurrency ETFs. The agency also allowed applications to list and trade spot bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, as well as options on “certain spot bitcoin ETPs.” During the Biden administration, the SEC approved a spot bitcoin ETF and later an Ethereum ETF following a pivotal court ruling.
