The survey shows that the total value of U.S. foreign securities held by the end of 2024 was approximately $15.8 trillion, consisting of $12.1 trillion in foreign stocks, $3.3 trillion in foreign long-term bonds (with original maturities of more than one year), and $0.4 trillion in foreign short-term bonds. The previous survey, as of the end of 2023, showed the total value of U.S. foreign securities held by the end of 2023 to be $15.3 trillion, consisting of $11.5 trillion in foreign stocks, $3.4 trillion in foreign long-term bonds, and $0.4 trillion in foreign short-term bonds.
