Solana Alpenglow (SIMD-0326) to Make Fundamental Changes to Network

最新报道：Solana's governance is poised to adopt the Alpenglow consensus protocol (SIMD-0326), aiming to slash block finality from 12-8 seconds to ~150ms. The upgrade requires a two-thirds majority vote during Epochs 840-842 (current Epoch 834). Alpenglow replaces Solana's proof-of-history and TowerBFT with a fault-tolerant system featuring Votor for streamlined voting and Rotor (future Turbine replacement) for efficient data distribution. The protocol reduces bandwidth by eliminating TowerBFT's gossip traffic, enables direct validator voting with cryptographic proof certification, and introduces a 20+20 resilience model to withstand malicious/inactive validators. Validators will use off-chain vote aggregation to cut fees, with a new 1.6 SOL per epoch Validator Admission Ticket (VAT) requirement.
