最新报道:According to the news from the Bitcoin World Network, White Noise, a new privacy-centric messaging application, has released its alpha v0.1.0 version in public testing. Built on Nostr's Bitcoin native, decentralized identity system and Messaging Layer Security (MLS) protocol, White Noise introduces an anonymization protocol to the growing Nostr social media ecosystem that can hide sensitive metadata. Combined with end-to-end encrypted group chats and private messages (DMs), it is expected to transform Nostr from an early adopter, amateur technology to a viable alternative in the field of privacy-branded messaging applications like Whatsapp, Signal or Telegram. Nostr, short for "Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays", is a decentralized open source protocol launched in 2021 to enable censorship-resistant communications and social networks. Unlike centralized platforms such as Twitter or WhatsApp, Nostr runs on an independent open network of relays (servers that store and forward messages), allowing users to post, send private messages, and share data without relying on a single company. The protocol is cryptographically native: users are authenticated using private and public keys, which can also be used in Bitcoin for payments, and it requires no identifiable user information to operate. The protocol gives users greater control over their identities without revealing emails or phone numbers. While it has gained great popularity among Bitcoin users, it lacks suitable tools for private group chats and anonymous direct messaging. “We started this project because we didn’t see any other alternatives,” Max Hillebrand, founder of White Noise and former contributor to Wasabi Wallet, told Bitcoin Magazine. “Existing crypto applications don’t scale massively: adding 100 people to a group chat makes crypto painfully slow. Decentralized platforms lack private messaging. Meanwhile, Nostr’s open relay network lets anyone broadcast ideas, but private messaging still lacks protection. We realized: To protect freedom, we need to merge these systems.” White Noise addressed these issues in Nostr’s privacy by using MLS, a “Message Layer Security” cryptographic standard developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the premier standards development organization for the Internet, founded in 1986. Unlike today’s Nostr DMs and public posts, White Noise’s app promises to use a proven MLS encryption scheme (similar to that used by the popular privacy messaging app Signal) to obfuscate who is sending what to whom. The open-source alpha version invites audits and feedback from the privacy and Bitcoin communities. Users can find out more about the app at whitenoise.chat or contact them at X. [Decrypt]
