币界网报道:Sentient Labs, an AI research organization focused on open-source development, has raised $85 million in seed funding led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, and Framework Ventures. The funding will support the development of Sentient’s decentralized AI platform, which aims to create an open ecosystem where contributors are fairly compensated for their work. The project, co-founded by Sandeep Nailwal of Polygon and Pramod Viswanath, seeks to address the centralization of AI development by major tech firms by enabling a permissionless, incentive-driven model. Sentient plans to use blockchain technology to track and reward contributions to AI training data, model development, and compute resources. The platform will also explore monetization mechanisms, such as allowing users to license AI models or sell their contributions. According to Nailwal, the goal is to "democratize AI" by ensuring that value flows back to the community rather than being captured by a few corporations. The team includes researchers from Princeton, Stanford, and other institutions, with a focus on creating scalable, transparent AI systems. The funding round also saw participation from Robot Ventures, Symbolic Capital, and Delphi Ventures, among others. Sentient’s testnet is expected to launch later this year, with a mainnet release planned for 2025. The project has drawn comparisons to other decentralized AI efforts like Bittensor but aims to differentiate itself through its emphasis on open participation and economic incentives.
