币界网报道:Solana's latest mainnet upgrade introduces passkey support for enhanced wallet security, allowing users to access their crypto wallets without traditional seed phrases. The new feature, developed in collaboration with Web3Auth, enables authentication through biometrics or device PINs on platforms like Google, Apple, and Microsoft. This upgrade comes as Solana experiences significant network growth, with its total value locked (TVL) surging 243% year-to-date to $4.3 billion and daily active addresses increasing 400% since October 2023. The passkey implementation addresses security concerns following several high-profile wallet breaches in the crypto space, including the $5 million hack of Solana wallet provider Slope in 2022. Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana Labs co-founder, emphasized that while passkeys improve usability, they don't compromise decentralization as private keys remain user-controlled. The upgrade also includes performance optimizations to handle Solana's growing transaction volume, which recently surpassed 3,000 transactions per second. Industry analysts note this development could accelerate mainstream adoption by reducing technical barriers for new users while maintaining security standards comparable to traditional financial systems. Several major Solana-based DeFi protocols, including Raydium and Orca, have announced plans to integrate passkey support in their interfaces within the coming weeks.
