币界网报道:Coinbase is set to launch regulated crypto futures trading on July 21, expanding its offerings to institutional and retail investors. The new platform, Coinbase Derivatives Exchange, will initially support Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) futures contracts, with plans to add more assets in the future. The move comes as part of Coinbase's strategy to diversify revenue streams amid declining spot trading volumes. The exchange received approval from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in 2021 to operate as a futures commission merchant. Industry analysts note this development could intensify competition with established players like CME and Binance in the crypto derivatives market. The launch follows Coinbase's recent legal victory against the SEC, which ruled that secondary sales of certain crypto assets do not constitute securities transactions.
