币界网报道:Kraken has secured a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration from Ireland's Central Bank, marking a significant milestone under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. This approval grants Kraken a "MiCA passport," enabling it to operate across all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) markets without needing separate national licenses. The registration follows Kraken's acquisition of Crypto Facilities in 2019 and its establishment of an Irish entity in 2022. Ireland's Central Bank has now registered 14 VASPs, including industry players like Coinbase and Gemini. Kraken's Ireland managing director, Brian Gahan, emphasized the country's supportive regulatory environment and skilled workforce as key factors in choosing Ireland as its EU hub. The MiCA framework, set to fully apply by December 2024, aims to standardize crypto regulations across the EU, enhancing consumer protection and market integrity. Kraken's registration positions it to expand its European services, including spot trading and staking, while complying with upcoming MiCA requirements.
