币界网报道:PayPal has expanded its Xoom service to integrate stablecoin payments for cross-border transactions, allowing U.S. users to send funds to recipients in 160 countries using PayPal USD (PYUSD). The move aims to reduce costs and processing times compared to traditional methods. Xoom users can now convert PYUSD to local fiat currencies upon transfer, with PayPal covering transaction fees for conversions under $1,000 until July 31. This integration marks PayPal's latest push into crypto-enabled payments following PYUSD's launch last August. The company highlighted the potential for stablecoins to streamline remittances, particularly in emerging markets where high fees remain a barrier. PayPal's blockchain lead Jose Fernandez da Ponte emphasized the service's focus on speed and affordability while maintaining regulatory compliance. The expansion comes as major payment firms increasingly explore blockchain-based solutions for international transfers.
