币界网报道:Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, has announced plans to become one of the top Bitcoin miners globally by the end of 2024. The company revealed it currently operates mining facilities in Uruguay, Paraguay, and El Salvador with a total hash rate capacity of approximately 450 MW. Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino stated the firm aims to expand its mining operations to reach 1% of Bitcoin's total network hash rate, which would require significant infrastructure scaling. The stablecoin giant has already invested heavily in mining equipment and renewable energy sources, including hydroelectric and wind power, to support its ambitious expansion. This move comes as part of Tether's broader strategy to diversify beyond stablecoin issuance and strengthen its position in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Industry analysts note that achieving 1% of Bitcoin's hash rate would position Tether among the top five mining operations worldwide.
