币界网报道:OP Labs, the developer behind Ethereum overlay protocol Optimism, predicts that all cryptocurrency exchanges and fintech firms will eventually operate their own blockchains. Sam McIngvale, OP Labs' Head of Product, highlights Coinbase's layer-2 network Base—built using Optimism's OP Stack—as a prime example, noting its rapid growth in users, developers, and total value locked. Base enables monetization of dormant crypto assets through lending, such as borrowing USDC against Bitcoin holdings. McIngvale anticipates widespread adoption of proprietary blockchains within five years, citing cost efficiency and improved user experience compared to traditional custody solutions. Competitors like Kraken, Bybit, and Robinhood are already exploring similar L2 solutions. Optimism's "Superchain" vision aims for seamless interoperability between blockchains, mirroring web browsing. McIngvale contrasts today's smoother UX with early crypto adoption, where users tolerated high fees and delays akin to 1990s internet experiences.
