According to the new interim decree (Decree No. 1303), personal cryptocurrency profits will be taxed at a uniform rate of 17.5%. Previously, individuals did not have to pay taxes on the sale of no more than 35,000 reais (about 6,300 US dollars) of cryptocurrency per month. Before this change, profits exceeding this limit were subject to a progressive tax rate, with the highest tax rate reaching 22.5%, applicable to transactions exceeding 5.4 million US dollars.
