Following the House of Representatives' passage of the Financial Transparency Act in July, the Senate Banking and Agriculture Committees each developed their own bills, which will later be merged. Banking Committee Republicans released a revised version last month, while Democrats outlined a list of principles they hope the legislation will include. The Agriculture Committee's draft has not yet been released, and completion may take even longer. Although the U.S. Senate previously rejected two proposals to fund the federal government to end the nine-day shutdown, and the cryptocurrency policy agenda has been put on hold due to an uncertain budget, Washington insiders believe momentum has not yet completely waned. While the House of Representatives has suspended its work due to the shutdown, the Senate is still in session on budget and cryptocurrency-related issues.
