US House Minority Leader Jeffries just stated that a government shutdown is "hopefully" avoided. As previously reported, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer warned earlier this month that Democrats are prepared to deplete government funding if Republicans refuse to include key healthcare provisions in any agreement. Trump will meet with senior congressional leaders on September 29th, including Senate Minority Leader Schumer, House Minority Leader Jeffries, House Speaker Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader Thune.
