The lawmakers noted Sacks' term should have ended between May and July 2025 based on government ethics rules. Sacks, a venture capitalist who previously sold all his crypto holdings to comply with ethics regulations, was appointed in December 2025 to lead AI and cryptocurrency policy. He had previously hosted a $12 million fundraiser for Trump's campaign.
