For large technology companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Google, access to increased electricity supply has become an increasingly pressing issue. These companies are racing to develop more advanced artificial intelligence systems and tools, projects known for their significant resource consumption. According to institutional forecasts, power demand for data centers used to build and run AI models is expected to quadruple over the next 10 years. Meta submitted the application through its subsidiary, Atem Energy LLC. A Meta representative stated that participating in the energy market was a natural step for the company.
