最新报道:According to Bijie.com, Salus will tokenize critical mineral exports from Rwanda to the United States on the IOTA network. From microchips to electric vehicle batteries, rare earth minerals are increasingly becoming a strategic resource. On Wednesday, September 10th, the DeFi platform Salus launched on the IOTA chain, aiming to help bridge the gap between the DeFi sector and the critical minerals trade. The platform will initially tokenize exports of the rare metal tantalum from Rwanda to the United States. According to Salus, the global trade in critical minerals is currently valued at approximately $500 billion, with a financing gap of approximately $2.5 trillion. The DeFi platform hopes that bringing these assets into the DeFi space will help bridge this funding gap. In addition to SALUS, IOTA also powers projects such as @tlip_io in East Africa, enabling real-time cross-border trade, and @realizefinance, which is creating access to tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds. Together, they demonstrate how digital infrastructure can expand access to global markets. "We're working with miners, financiers, and buyers to reinvent trade finance from the ground up," said Trevor Skidmore, co-founder of Salus. "Using smart contracts and stablecoins, we can finance minerals at source, based on verifiable terms, with built-in true delivery and traceability." In addition to its ongoing operations in Rwanda, Salus is expanding to other countries in Africa and Latin America. Through this initiative, the platform plans to exceed $100 billion in gross merchandise value by the end of 2025. Salus' launch comes at a time of growing demand for critical minerals. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), demand for critical minerals needed for the energy transition away from fossil fuels will double by 2040. At the same time, the industry is facing increasing volatility due to disruptions caused by tariffs. In this environment, the platform hopes to give US investors access to the industry without owning mines, which will help bring in capital that has been scarce until now.
