最新报道:According to a report by Bijie.com, three people familiar with the matter said that Alphabet's Google (GOOGL.O) will face a modest antitrust fine from the European Union in the coming weeks due to suspected anticompetitive behavior in its advertising technology business. The decision was made by the European Commission based on a complaint from the European Publishers Council. The Commission subsequently launched a four-year investigation and formally accused Google in 2023 of favoring its own advertising services and suppressing competitors. This modest fine marks a strategic shift for the new EU antitrust chief, Teresa Ribera, in dealing with violations by large technology companies. Unlike her predecessor, Margrethe Vestager, who tended to impose huge punitive fines, Ribera hopes to focus more on encouraging companies to stop anticompetitive behavior rather than simply punishing them. The fine is expected to be far smaller than the record 4.3 billion euro fine imposed on Google by the EU competition regulator in 2018.
