最新报道:According to Coinnet, SBI Holdings is using blockchain technology to digitize Japanese stocks to reduce fees and speed up global transactions. Major Japanese financial conglomerate SBI Holdings is preparing to establish a joint venture with Singaporean startup StarTail Group. The two companies will jointly develop a blockchain-based stock digitization platform. Sources told TV Tokyo that the project could reduce transaction fees and make Japanese stocks more easily tradable internationally. SBI is entering the stock tokenization market. Under this system, SBI will convert stocks into digital asset "tokens," potentially eliminating the need for traditional brokers. This could reduce transaction times to seconds and significantly reduce costs. Furthermore, global investors will face fewer barriers, expanding participation in the Japanese stock market. While cryptocurrencies are criticized for their volatility, tokenized stocks will mirror stock prices and yields, offering a more stable alternative to traditional digital assets. SBI plans to expand tokenization beyond stocks to include bonds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This strategy will help create a comprehensive digital financial platform. The company plans to launch tokenized stocks by the end of 2026 or early 2027. SBI's banking and securities division boasts a robust customer base of approximately 50 million accounts by March 2024. By leveraging these clients, the company aims to increase accessibility to digital asset trading. Chairman and CEO Yoshitaka Kitao believes this move is a significant step in integrating traditional finance with digital technology. Global tokenization trends: Equity tokenization has already gained momentum in the United States. In June of this year, online brokerage Robinhood and cryptocurrency exchange Kraken announced plans to issue tokenized US stocks and ETFs on blockchain platforms. Under former President Donald Trump's administration, the US Securities and Exchange Commission provided guidance on whether digital assets qualify as securities. As a result, the tokenized stock market is gaining traction. In Japan, regulatory discussions on tokenized stocks are still in their early stages. Recently, the government approved the issuance of the first stablecoins backed by fiat currencies. SBI will showcase its blockchain-based trading infrastructure at the WEBX cryptocurrency event on August 22nd. Executives describe this initiative as an excellent opportunity to reshape digital finance and aims to establish SBI as a global platform leader.
