DEF emphasized the foundation's role in advancing DeFi advocacy, with donations eligible for tax benefits. Chief Communications Officer Jennifer Rosenthal highlighted the initiative's timing amid pivotal digital asset policy discussions. DEF has urged Senate Republicans and the SEC to consider DeFi-specific regulatory approaches, including safe harbors for blockchain apps. The move follows legal challenges like the Tornado Cash case, where DEF argued noncustodial protocol developers should not be classified as money transmitters. The foundation will be led by DEF's Tuminelli, Multicoin Capital's Greg Xethalis, and Arktouros' Michael Mosier.
