最新报道:According to Bijie.com, on August 12th, Qubic, a project led by IOTA co-founder Sergey Ivancheglo, rapidly accumulated a significant amount of Monero hashing power through the "Useful Proof of Work" (uPoW) mechanism, soaring from less than 2% to over 27%, briefly becoming the largest Monero mining pool. Qubic publicly stated its goal was to reach over 51% to test network security. On August 12th, Qubic briefly controlled 52.72% of the Monero network's hash rate (approximately 3.01 GH/s). Once Qubic surpasses 51%, it can reject blocks from other mining pools, leading to chain reorganizations, double spends, or transaction censorship. The Monero community has launched a boycott and defensive action, with Qubic describing the move as a technical demonstration and not a malicious attack. Ledger's CTO stated in a post that Monero appears to be undergoing a successful 51% attack. The Qubic mining pool has been steadily accumulating hashing power for months and now controls a majority of the network's hash rate. A major chain reorganization was detected this morning. With its current hashrate, Qubic could rewrite the blockchain, enabling double spends and censoring any transaction.
