Tesla Robotaxi LLC has been designated a licensed transportation network company by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, joining companies such as Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. This license is required because new state laws, effective September 1st, regulate self-driving ride-hailing vehicles in the same manner as those operated by human drivers.
