This foundation will be an independent non-profit entity acting as trustee and fiduciary, subject to the decisions of Axie's on-chain governance. Its primary responsibility will be to execute the will of the community and deploy community treasury assets only as directed by community votes. Sky Mavis will use assets from the Ecosystem Fund to inject capital into the foundation to cover operating expenses for at least two years. They are currently exploring the optimal legal structure for the foundation, focusing on a Decentralized Non-profit Organization (DUNA) to establish a legal entity in the United States, enabling the community to enter into contracts, hold assets, and open bank accounts.
