The statue was stolen and thrown into a lake on August 3rd, and the city has since recovered it. On October 25, 2024, the city of Lugano unveiled a statue commemorating Bitcoin's anonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, in Villa Ciani Park. The event was hosted by the Plan B initiative, a collaboration between Tether and the city of Lugano. The statue was designed by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi and took 18 months of research and three months to construct.
