The Layer 2 solution aims to enable multi-chain applications while maintaining Bitcoin's security. Marathon CEO Fred Thiel stated the network will use a "merged mining" approach to validate transactions across chains without compromising decentralization. The project, expected to launch in Q4 2025, will initially support Bitcoin and Solana interoperability before expanding to other networks. This marks Marathon's first major move beyond pure mining operations into blockchain infrastructure development.
