最新报道:Cryptocurrency and stock trading platform eToro announced Tuesday that it will launch tokenized trading of U.S. stocks, ETFs, and futures. Co-founder and CEO Yoni Assia credited regulatory milestones for eToro's launch. "We have been long-time believers in the tokenized future," Assia said in a statement. "Blockchain technology will facilitate the greatest wealth transfer in history as traditional assets are tokenized and moved onto the blockchain. New regulations, such as MiCA in Europe and the Genius Act in the United States, make the tokenization of real-world assets a new opportunity to create legally backed and regulated digital assets." The plan will allow retail investors to trade tokenized versions of popular U.S. stocks—likely primarily those listed on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq—through ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. Through a partnership with CME Group, eToro will also offer tokenized futures trading. Assia also stated, "Our mission has always been to open up global markets. Extended trading hours was the first step, 24/5 took it a step further, but tokenization brings 24/7 accessibility." eToro said in its statement that it launched tokenized gold and silver products in 2019. eToro warned that trading tokenized stocks outside of traditional hours may face "low liquidity and high volatility," according to its statement. The tokenization of real-world assets, particularly US stocks, is considered a major growth area for cryptocurrencies. Trading platforms such as Robinhood and Kraken are interested in issuing digital tokens that mirror traditional stocks and trade 24/7. How the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will treat tokenized stocks remains unclear. While moves to allow US traders to buy and sell tokenized stocks like Tesla, Apple, and Nvidia appear to be gaining momentum, this opportunity is currently primarily available to investors located outside the US. Last week, Citadel Securities, one of the world's largest market makers, urged the SEC to treat tokenized stocks the same as more traditional stocks, as cryptocurrency companies push to offer these new crypto-based products to their clients. In its letter, Citadel Securities stated that the SEC should avoid exemptions from securities rules and should focus on market liquidity and investor protection. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, a longtime cryptocurrency advocate, appears enthusiastic about devising a method that would allow companies to tokenize their stocks. Atkins recently stated, "It's hard to say exactly how things will play out or what will happen, but assets are clearly moving on-chain. So, if it can be tokenized, it will be tokenized."
