最新报道:According to the news from the Bitcoin World Network, on May 22, 2025, children from the Uganda Orphan Children's Center (the orphanage is located in eastern Uganda and is part of the Bitcoin Kampala community) took a zoo road trip, thanks in part to Bitcoin donations from around the world. The team that helps fund and operate the orphanage chose to make this trip on Bitcoin Pizza Day to show the orphans that everything is possible, many of whom have never left the village where the orphanage is located, just as Laszlo Hanyecz showed the world when he bought two pizzas with 10,000 Bitcoin on May 22, 2010, that it is possible to pay for goods and services with Bitcoin. 22•05•2025 – Bitcoin Pizza Day at the Orphanage ? We dreamed of taking a bus out of our area to the zoo late last year and you all made it happen… Special thanks to @blinkbtc , @studentofbtc , @travelwbitcoin for sponsoring our day, and our everlasting sponsor @Bitcoinbeach ,… pic.twitter.com/Ol6XC52bcv “We organize this trip to give the children hope and open their minds to what is possible,” Bitcoin Kampala founder Brindon Mwiine told Bitcoin Magazine. “Last year, we started teaching them to write their dreams in a notebook we gave them, and when we asked them what they wanted for Christmas, their answers were simple: to visit the capital, see animals, travel,” he added. “Bitcoin Pizza Day at Entebbe Zoo became the perfect way to turn those dreams into reality while teaching them about Bitcoin.” Mwiine also noted that it was the first time the children had taken a long bus ride across the Nile, through the capital, Kampala, to explore the zoo — and eat pizza. “It was a day full of firsts,” Mwiine said, adding that it was even more special because he, the support staff, and the children “went through this together as a family.” Edith Mpumwire, a member of the Blink Wallet marketing team and a collaborator on the Bitcoin Kampala team, echoed Mwiine’s sentiments. “This trip was a first for [these children],” Mpumwire said in the video embedded in X’s post above. “Most of these children are from eastern Uganda [and] they live in a small house in Bugiri. They have never left Bugiri, so for them, today was not only their first day to visit the zoo, but also their first day out of their house,” she added. Mpumwire also noted that the international Bitcoin community was partly to thank for making the orphans’ trip possible. “The global [Bitcoin] community contributes to their livelihoods [and] we are here to take them on a road trip [where] they can see a mini national park, Lake Victoria, and so many animals.” You can contribute to the Uganda Orphan Children’s Center through the project’s Geyser page.
