IMF No.2 Gopinath to leave in late August

最新报道：According to a report from Bijie.com, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in a statement that its No. 2 figure, Gita Gopinath, will leave her post at the end of August and return to Harvard University. The IMF said that IMF Managing Director Georgieva will appoint Gopinath's successor "at the appropriate time." Gopinath joined the IMF in 2019 as the organization's first female chief economist and was promoted to first deputy managing director in January 2022. The U.S. Treasury Department did not immediately comment on this. The candidate for the IMF president is traditionally selected by European countries, while the candidate for the first deputy managing director is recommended by the U.S. Treasury Department.
