Duffy noted the exchange is assessing operational and staffing challenges before making a final decision. The potential expansion comes as institutional interest in crypto derivatives grows, with CME's Bitcoin futures open interest recently hitting record highs. The exchange has been a key player in regulated crypto derivatives since launching Bitcoin futures in 2017.
