最新报道:A U.S. court has resentenced Estonian national Sergei Potapenko to 12 years in prison for orchestrating a $23 million cryptocurrency fraud scheme through his now-defunct mining service HashFlare. The scheme, which ran from 2015 to 2019, defrauded hundreds of thousands of victims by selling fraudulent equipment leases and fake bank guarantees. Potapenko, who was extradited from Estonia last year, must also pay $103 million in restitution. His co-conspirator Ivan Turõgin received a 10-year sentence in March. The case highlights growing regulatory scrutiny of crypto-related fraud as authorities intensify crackdowns on financial crimes in the digital asset space.
