最新报道:SBI Group is a financial services company in Japan that allows users to buy BTC, ETH, and XRP using credit card points. Credit card companies are currently integrating cryptocurrencies around the world. Currently, the experiment is very small-scale, as it only allows purchases of less than $15 at a time. Nonetheless, SBI’s decision may reflect the growing pro-crypto sentiment in Japan’s corporate world. Japan Putting Crypto on Credit Cards Buying crypto with credit cards is nothing new, and several major Web3 companies have recently joined the trend. Coinbase is launching a credit card in partnership with Amex, and Bitget Wallet is doing something similar. However, Japan-based financial services company SBI Holdings is breaking new ground with its latest credit card rewards: At first glance, it seems like a huge breakthrough. Mastercard recently became a pioneer in the industry by linking its credit cards with DEX access, and now Japan has joined the trend. SBI Holdings manages more than $214 billion in assets, so its credit card division has the potential to be a real market mover. Unfortunately, this development seems more like a gimmick than anything else. SBI users can redeem 2,100 APLUS points for 2,000 yen worth of BTC, ETH, or XRP. However, the yen is very weak right now, so these credit card points can only buy $13.64 worth of cryptocurrencies. It’s not clear how easy it is to earn these points, but it may not scale well to real token acquisition. In addition, the company is very sparse on actual details. For example, it’s not clear how SBI will custody or transfer these assets. Still, the program could get credit card users across Japan on board with the Web3 industry. Moreover, it’s an important signal of adoption trends. Japan’s shaky economy has encouraged cryptocurrency investments, and SBI’s credit card subsidiary has joined the trend. Many Japanese companies are investing heavily in cryptocurrencies, and this phenomenon could even lead to friendlier cryptocurrency regulations. In other words, even if the credit card exchange program itself is small, it reflects the cryptocurrency sentiment in the Japanese corporate world. Such a signal could eventually represent a huge market trend.
