The collaboration will utilize street-level imagery collected by contributors with Hivemapper cameras to improve the precision of autonomous pick-ups and drop-offs. Hivemapper CEO Ariel Seidman stated this marks "a shift from static to living maps," emphasizing the need for dynamic data that evolves with changing road conditions. As part of Solana's DePIN ecosystem, Bee Maps contributors earn crypto rewards for providing imagery that AI processes to detect road changes. This comes as Volkswagen tests its Robotaxi fleet and prepares for a 2026 commercial rollout following a 2025 pilot with Uber in U.S. markets.
