Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized the urgency of modernizing cyber defenses following recent attacks on German infrastructure, including the 2023 breach of government communications systems. The project will receive €850 million in federal funding over three years, with pilot deployments scheduled for 2025 in energy and healthcare sectors. Israeli partners include NSO Group and Check Point Software Technologies, though the involvement of NSO has drawn criticism due to its Pegasus spyware controversy. BSI President Arne Schönbohm stated the system will comply with strict EU data protection standards while maintaining interoperability with NATO cyber defense frameworks.
