最新报道：Warren Buffett has donated approximately $6 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway shares to five foundations, continuing his long-standing commitment to philanthropy. The donations, made on November 21, included shares gifted to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation (named after his late wife), and three foundations run by his children—Howard, Susan, and Peter Buffett. This marks the 18th consecutive year of such contributions, with the total value of Buffett's donations now exceeding $50 billion. The shares were distributed at a price of $546,869 each, reflecting Berkshire Hathaway's Class A stock value at the time. Despite these substantial donations, Buffett remains Berkshire's largest shareholder, retaining about 23% of the company's voting power. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation received the largest portion, reinforcing Buffett's support for global health and development initiatives. In his annual letter, Buffett reiterated his belief in giving away the majority of his wealth during his lifetime, rather than leaving it to heirs. He also praised the efficiency and impact of the foundations receiving his donations, particularly highlighting the Gates Foundation's work. This latest contribution underscores Buffett's adherence to the Giving Pledge, which he co-founded with Bill and Melinda Gates in 2010, encouraging billionaires to donate the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes. The donations come as Berkshire Hathaway continues to report strong financial performance, with its stock price reaching record highs in recent months. Buffett, 93, remains actively involved in managing the conglomerate while steadily transferring his wealth to charitable organizations. His philanthropic strategy focuses on empowering existing foundations with proven track records, rather than establishing new entities. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, which supports reproductive health and education, received a significant portion, reflecting Buffett's personal priorities. Meanwhile, his children's foundations address diverse causes, including environmental conservation, social justice, and indigenous rights. Analysts note that these donations have minimal impact on Berkshire's operations but serve as a model for corporate leaders balancing wealth creation and social responsibility.
