币界网报道:Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the company will drop its cross-appeal against the SEC, signaling the end of their prolonged legal battle. The SEC is expected to follow suit by withdrawing its appeal. Garlinghouse stated Ripple will now focus on building the "Internet of Value." XRP rose 1.4% following the news. The decision comes after Judge Analisa Torres rejected a joint settlement proposal that would have reduced Ripple's penalty to $50 million and removed a permanent injunction against the firm. Torres questioned why the injunction should be lifted if there was still concern about future violations. Ripple will now accept the original $125 million penalty and maintain the injunction. The SEC initially sued Ripple in 2020 over XRP sales, with Torres ruling in 2023 that institutional sales violated securities laws while retail sales did not.
