Alongside co-conspirators Gregory Aggesen and Marquis Demacking Egerton, Golden promised fixed returns from fake overseas crypto operations, using new investor funds to pay earlier participants. U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella stated the group exploited crypto hype while conducting no legitimate trading. After the schemes collapsed, Golden and William White obstructed investigations by destroying evidence and providing false information to regulators. Golden must forfeit $2.46 million in illicit gains, while White received a 30-month sentence; Aggesen and Egerton await sentencing. The DOJ initially charged the group in March 2022 for fraud and money laundering.
