币界网报道:The FBI arrested alleged hacker Kai West, aka "IntelBroker," after an undercover agent sent him $250 in Bitcoin to purchase stolen data, leading to his identification. The 25-year-old British national and his accomplices reportedly sold data from over 40 victims, including telecom and healthcare firms, primarily accepting Monero (XMR) for anonymity. However, the BTC transaction enabled authorities to trace him. TRM Labs' Ari Redbord noted this case highlights law enforcement's growing blockchain tracking capabilities, using small public ledger transactions to link identities. West allegedly attempted to sell hacked data 41 times, seeking $2 million, and distributed it freely 117 times between 2023-2025, causing an estimated $25 million in damages. Arrested in France in February, he faces charges including computer intrusion conspiracy and wire fraud. Monero, currently trading around $312, has a $5.8 billion market cap.
