币界网报道:The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has begun distributing $245 million in refunds to Fortnite players as part of a settlement with Epic Games over allegations of deceptive design practices. The refunds, totaling approximately $126 million in the first wave, address complaints that Epic used dark patterns to trick players into making unintended purchases and made it difficult to cancel unwanted charges. Eligible consumers include those charged for in-game items without consent between January 2017 and September 2022, or whose accounts were locked after disputing unauthorized charges with their credit card companies. The FTC is notifying over 37 million affected players via email about the refund process, with payments being issued via PayPal, Venmo, or mailed checks. This marks one of the largest refund distributions in FTC history, following the agency's $520 million settlement with Epic in December 2022 over privacy violations and unwanted charges.
