币界网报道:YouTube has raised the minimum age requirement for solo livestreaming from 13 to 16 years old, effective November 2023, as part of its updated child safety policies. The platform will also implement stricter default privacy settings for users aged 13-17, automatically setting uploads to private for teens unless they choose to change it. These changes follow YouTube's 2021 policy update that restricted live streaming to users over 18 unless they had parental permission. The video-sharing giant stated the adjustments aim to provide "age-appropriate experiences" for younger users while maintaining access to content creation tools. YouTube will roll out these updates globally in the coming weeks, with additional safeguards for teen accounts including turning on "take a break" and bedtime reminders by default. The platform continues to face scrutiny over child safety measures, having paid $170 million in 2019 to settle FTC allegations of violating children's privacy laws.
