India’s BJP Proposes Bitcoin Reserve Pilot Amid 30% Tax Uncertainty
-
最新报道：India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has proposed a pilot program to explore creating a national Bitcoin reserve while maintaining uncertainty around cryptocurrency taxation policies. The proposal suggests allocating 1% of India's foreign exchange reserves to Bitcoin as a strategic asset, potentially making India one of the first major economies to hold BTC in official reserves. However, the party remains divided on cryptocurrency regulation, with some members advocating for maintaining the current 30% capital gains tax and 1% TDS on crypto transactions. The pilot program would test Bitcoin's viability as a reserve asset while evaluating market risks and volatility. This development comes amid ongoing debates about India's crypto regulatory framework, with the government yet to finalize comprehensive legislation despite growing institutional interest in digital assets. The Reserve Bank of India has maintained its cautious stance on cryptocurrencies while acknowledging the need to study central bank digital currencies.
