币界网报道:Metaplanet, a Japanese investment firm, has purchased an additional 1.234 Bitcoin worth approximately $7.5 million, bringing its total holdings to 141.07 BTC valued at around $8.6 million. This latest acquisition follows the company's initial Bitcoin purchase of 117.7 BTC in June, as part of its strategy to adopt Bitcoin as a reserve asset to hedge against Japan's economic challenges, including high government debt and a weakening yen. Metaplanet's Bitcoin holdings now surpass Tesla's current stash of 11,509 BTC, which the electric vehicle maker has not added to since Q2 2022. The Tokyo-listed company cited Bitcoin's scarcity and decentralized nature as key factors in its decision, aiming to mitigate risks associated with Japan's fiscal and monetary policies. Metaplanet's move aligns with a growing trend among corporations to diversify treasury assets with Bitcoin, following similar strategies by MicroStrategy and other institutional investors.
