币界网报道:The UAE has introduced a new crypto payment option for taxi services through a partnership between Sharjah Taxi and local fintech firm Pyypl. Passengers can now pay fares using Pyypl's dirham-pegged stablecoin (AEDP) via the company's blockchain-powered app, eliminating the need for traditional cash or card payments. This initiative aligns with the UAE's broader strategy to promote digital payments and blockchain adoption. Pyypl's CEO Antti Arponen emphasized that the solution provides a seamless, secure, and cost-effective alternative for everyday transactions. The move follows the UAE's increasing embrace of crypto-friendly regulations, including recent approvals for licensed VASPs (Virtual Asset Service Providers) to operate within the country. Sharjah Taxi's adoption of stablecoin payments marks a significant step in integrating blockchain technology into mainstream transportation services in the region.
