币界网报道:According to the news from Bijie.com, the Massachusetts District Court of the United States ruled on June 13 against Aleksei Andriunin, the founder of cryptocurrency market maker Gotbit, finding him guilty of wire fraud and market manipulation, and sentenced him to 8 months in prison and 1 year of probation. The court also sentenced Gotbit to 5 years of probation, during which it was not allowed to conduct business. Andriunin, 26, was arrested in Portugal in October 2024 and extradited to the United States in February this year. Prosecutors accused him of implementing market manipulation such as "wash trading" for customers between 2018 and 2024 by creating false trading codes and manipulating multiple accounts, involving tens of millions of dollars. As a market maker, Gotbit is suspected of artificially creating trading volume to enable tokens to land on mainstream exchanges.
