币界网报道:A Pepe-themed NFT project, "Pepe the Frog NFT," reportedly hired a North Korean hacker by mistake, leading to a $900,000 theft. The hacker, posing as a graphic designer, infiltrated the project's Discord server and gained admin access, subsequently draining funds from the project's wallet. The incident was disclosed by ZachXBT, a blockchain investigator, who traced the stolen funds to a wallet linked to North Korea's Lazarus Group. The hacker allegedly used social engineering tactics to gain trust, even participating in voice chats to appear legitimate. The stolen funds were converted to Ethereum and laundered through Tornado Cash. This breach highlights ongoing security risks in the crypto space, particularly with social engineering attacks targeting NFT projects. The Pepe NFT team has not issued an official statement, but the incident underscores the need for stricter vetting processes in decentralized communities.
