币界网报道:A new proposal aims to reduce NEAR Protocol's inflation rate from 5% to 3.5% annually to enhance network sustainability and tokenomics. The initiative, presented by the NEAR Foundation, seeks to balance validator rewards with long-term ecosystem growth by gradually decreasing inflation over three years. This adjustment would lower the current 90 million NEAR annual issuance to approximately 63 million, potentially increasing the protocol's staking ratio from 40% to 50-60%. The proposal highlights NEAR's unique inflationary model where transaction fees are burned while new tokens are minted for validators. Foundation CEO Illia Polosukhin emphasized this change would maintain competitive staking yields while improving NEAR's value proposition. Community voting on the measure is expected soon, with implementation targeted for Q3 2024 if approved. The move follows similar inflation-reduction strategies adopted by other Layer 1 networks like Ethereum post-Merge.
